Letter to Parents - Reporting Positive Test Results

November 30, 2020

Re: Update on Covid Test Results to School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for supporting the school in these challenging times.  Thank you for checking for symptoms daily and keeping students home when required.  Surrounding schools have now begun experiencing positive cases in schools and I want to assure you that we do have protocols that will help us minimize exposure to others if we have a positive case at school.  In order to do this, it is of paramount importance that school administration is notified if your child receives a positive covid test.  The identity of positive cases will remain confidential while we complete school isolation protocols.  To report a positive case, please all the school ask to speak with myself, Mrs. Heide or the acting administrator if we are unable to be reached.   After school hours or on weekends, please email both Mrs. Heide and myself and leave a contact number for us to call  for more detailed information.

Most likely you are aware that the Government of Alberta has announced increased targeted measures and restrictions due to rising numbers of Covid cases in Alberta. The full list of these measures can be found here.  Students in ECS to grade 6 will carry on as usual at Condor School until the start of the Christmas break.

The week of January 4-8 will move to on-line learning for Condor students and staff.  Regular in-person classes are scheduled to  resume on January 11, 2021.

At-home learning will be authentic instruction with the teacher instructing your child and providing learning activities for  your child to complete at home.  This instruction will include small group and individual instruction via pre-recorded videos, on-line and printable resources and other modes of learning.  Staff will be available during regular school hours to support families while students are learning at home through regular phone calls, video conferencing, google chats, and emails.  Teachers will send home any necessary resources including chromebooks prior to students leaving for the holiday break. Please let your child’s teacher know if you do not want to borrow a school chromebook.  Staff have committed to making the learning experience simple, meaningful and interactive for students. Parents will be integral in helping students continue to learn during this time so please feel free to call the school if you need any help in supporting your child’s learning.  You will be able to contact  your child’s teacher at 403-729-3868 during school hours as teachers will be in their classrooms preparing lessons for students.

Sincere Regards,

Cheryl Kalev
